DIAGNOSIS The infrared ice-full sensor (located on the ceiling inside the ice basket area) is being blocked or is misaligned, causing a false 'full' reading.
FIX Clean and check the sensor.
- Unplug the unit and remove all ice from the basket.
- Look at the top inside of the ice basket compartment. You'll see a small plastic lens or window on each side—this is the infrared beam path.
- Wipe both sensor lenses clean with a dry, soft cloth. Frost, water droplets, or dust can block the beam.
- Ensure the ice basket is seated perfectly straight and not tilted, which can break the beam prematurely.
- Plug it back in and run a cycle. It should now fill the basket completely before stopping.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the problem recurs, the sensor might be overly sensitive. You can place a small piece of opaque tape (electrical tape works) over one of the sensor lenses. This will permanently disable the auto-stop feature, so you must monitor the ice level manually to avoid overflows.
HEADS UP Don't stack ice above the sensor line. The machine is designed to stop when ice physically blocks the beam. Overfilling can cause ice to jam the ejector arms.
