DIAGNOSIS A loud grinding or clicking noise during the ice-making cycle typically originates from the evaporator plate or the auger. A foreign object or a piece of hard ice is likely jammed in the mechanism.
FIX Immediately power off and unplug the unit. Open the ice basket and visually inspect the auger and evaporator for any visible obstruction. Use plastic tongs (never metal) to gently remove any foreign object or large ice chunk. Plug back in and restart.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The noise may be from a failed bearing in the auger motor. Continuous operation in this state will cause further damage. Cease use and contact customer service.
HEADS UP Never use tools, knives, or fingers to probe the ice-making chamber while the unit is plugged in. The auger can start automatically.
