Diagnosis
For a proper, airtight seal with the Jeevony DV180 Magnetic Dryer Vent Coupling, the existing rigid metal duct must typically be cut back. The magnetic coupler is designed to mount directly against the exterior wall surface, and a protruding duct will prevent the assembly from seating flush, compromising the seal and magnetic connection.
How to Fix It
To install the DV180 correctly, follow these steps:
- Disconnect the dryer power and move the appliance to access the existing vent.
- Detach the old flexible hose or duct from the dryer and the wall outlet.
- Using tin snips, carefully cut the existing rigid metal duct protruding from the wall so its end is approximately flush with the interior wall surface. Remove any burrs.
- Hold the DV180's wall flange (the part with the four magnets) centered over the cleaned wall opening. Mark the four screw hole locations with a pencil.
- Before drilling, use a non-contact voltage tester to scan the marked area for hidden electrical wires.
- Drill pilot holes, insert the provided drywall anchors, and securely screw the wall flange into place.
- Connect your dryer's flexible hose to the flange's interior collar and secure it tightly with the provided hose clamp.
- Attach the magnetic outer hood to the mounted flange—it should snap into place securely.
If That Didn't Work
If the duct is too short to cut flush or is recessed within the wall, you may need a short extension piece of rigid duct (not supplied) to bring the opening to the wall surface before mounting the flange. If the magnetic seal feels weak, ensure both coupling surfaces are clean, dry, and free of paint or debris. Verify the wall flange is mounted perfectly flat without rocking.

Always confirm the dryer is unplugged before starting work. Ensure the outer hood has clear, unobstructed airflow outside the home and that the interior hose is not kinked or crushed behind the dryer, as this is a major fire hazard.
