Diagnosis
The Jeevony DV180 relies on a strong magnetic seal. If it won't connect or keeps separating, the core issue is almost always insufficient magnetic force due to misalignment or an excessive gap. The magnets are designed to self-align and snap together, but only if the two halves (the dryer vent hood and the wall duct collar) are brought very close—typically within 1.5 inches—before the magnets can engage.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the dryer and pull it completely away from the wall.
- Inspect the alignment. Look directly from the dryer's exhaust outlet to the wall vent opening. They should be roughly centered on each other, not offset vertically or horizontally.
- Measure the gap. With the dryer in its normal position, the distance between the two vent ends must be 2 inches or less. If it's greater, the magnets are too weak to bridge the distance.
- If alignment is off or the gap is too large, you must adjust the setup. This may involve loosening the clamp on the dryer's exhaust hose to reposition it, or adjusting the wall vent duct behind the dryer to shorten it or change its angle.
- Once adjusted, slowly push the dryer back. You should feel a distinct magnetic pull and hear a click as the coupling seals. Gently tug the connection to confirm it's secure.
If That Didn't Work
If proper alignment doesn't solve it, check for obstructions. Ensure the rubber gasket on the magnetic collar is clean, intact, and not folded over, as this can prevent a flush connection. Verify that the magnetic surfaces themselves are free of dust, lint, or metal shavings, which can repel the magnets. In rare cases, a defective unit may have weak magnets; if all else fails and the gap is under 1 inch, contact Jeevony for a replacement.
Heads Up
Never force the dryer into position if the coupling isn't engaging, as this can kink or disconnect your flexible dryer duct inside, creating a fire hazard. Always ensure the final connection is airtight with no gaps before operating the dryer.
