Neodymium magnets are significantly more powerful than standard ferrite magnets; they create a concentrated magnetic flux that can interfere with the Hall effect sensors found in modern smartphones and smartwatches. Specifically, these sensors are used to detect when a flip-cover is closed or to calibrate the internal digital compass (magnetometer). If you place a phone or watch directly against the DV180 coupling, you may experience "ghost touches," a temporary failure of the screen to wake up, or a distorted compass reading. While these magnets are generally not strong enough to permanently erase flash memory (SSD) or destroy a modern lithium-ion battery, they can cause temporary software glitches or interfere with the magnetic induction charging coils found in many wearables.
How to Fix It
To ensure your electronics remain unaffected during the installation and operation of the DV180, follow these spatial and handling protocols:
- Maintain a "Safe Zone" of at least 12 to 18 inches between the DV180 coupling and any sensitive electronic device. This distance allows the magnetic field strength to drop off exponentially, rendering it harmless to your device's sensors.
- Remove your smartwatch or smart ring before manually sliding the coupling into place or adjusting the vent alignment. This prevents accidental direct contact between the watch casing and the neodymium ring.
- Avoid resting your smartphone on the dryer top or the floor directly adjacent to the vent coupling while the dryer is running, as vibrations can cause the device to slide closer to the magnetic source.

If That Didn't Work
