Diagnosis
The JEEVONY DV180 hose is slipping off because the connection to the dryer's exhaust port lacks sufficient grip. This is almost always caused by one of three issues: the hose clamp is not positioned correctly over the raised rib on the port, the clamp isn't tightened enough to resist dryer vibration, or the plastic dryer port itself is smooth, worn, or damaged, providing little for the clamp to bite into.
How to Fix It
First, disconnect the hose completely. Follow these steps for a secure connection:
- Identify the rigid, corrugated rib on your dryer's metal exhaust port. Slide the DV180 hose's built-in plastic collar over this port, pushing it on as far as it will go.
- Position the supplied metal hose clamp so it sits directly over the dryer port's rib, not just on the smooth plastic of the hose collar. This is critical.
- Using a screwdriver (not just your fingers), tighten the clamp screw firmly until the hose cannot rotate or be pulled off the port with moderate force. The connection should be rigid.
If That Didn't Work
If the hose still slips, the smooth plastic port on your dryer may be the culprit. Solutions include:
- Wrap 2-3 layers of high-quality vinyl or aluminum foil tape around the dryer port to create a thicker, grippier surface before reattaching the hose and clamp.
- For a permanent fix, purchase a cheap, short section of rigid metal dryer duct from a hardware store. Connect this metal duct to your dryer's port first (using a clamp and tape), then connect the DV180 hose to the other end of the metal duct. The rigid metal provides a much better surface for clamping.
Heads Up
Never use duct tape for these connections, as heat and time will cause it to fail and become a fire hazard. Only use UL-listed foil tape or proper hose clamps. Also, ensure there is no excessive tension or a sharp bend pulling the hose off the port.
