my air purifier smells weird, like burning plastic or ozone, especially when first turned on.

DIAGNOSIS A new-unit smell is common. A persistent burning smell indicates dust on the pre-filter or ionizer plates.

FIX Power off and unplug. Remove the front panel and the pre-filter. Vacuum the pre-filter thoroughly. Wipe the interior plastic surfaces with a dry cloth to remove any accumulated dust.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The smell may originate from the Ionizer. Turn the Ionizer function off via the control panel for a week to see if the smell dissipates.

HEADS UP Run the unit on high speed in a well-ventilated room for 24-48 hours when new. This clears most factory odors.
