This usually means the basket is overfilled with food. Let's get it seated properly.
- First, take the basket out. Remove some food. Heaping amounts can prevent the basket from sliding in and may even touch the heating coils, which is a fire hazard.
- Make sure the crisper plate is fitted correctly. Tilt it to insert one side into the basket first, then press down on the other side. Don't force it flat—you could damage the silicone stoppers.
- Now try sliding the basket back in. It should go smoothly if it's not overloaded.
If that didn't work: Check that nothing is obstructing the air inlet at the back of the unit. Also, ensure you're not trying to use the air fryer without the basket in place—that's a no-go.
Heads up: Always use the basket handle to remove and insert the basket. Be careful of hot steam when pulling it out.
