my dishwasher runs but never seems to get the dishes dry, even on heated dry. everything's still wet.

DIAGNOSIS The heated dry function is failing. Either the heating element has burned out or the high-limit thermostat has tripped.

FIX

  • First, ensure you're using a rinse aid. It's critical for sheeting water off dishes so the heat can work effectively.
  • Run a diagnostic test: Press 'Cancel/Drain' twice, then 'Heated Dry' twice. The lights will flash in a sequence. If the 'Heated Dry' light doesn't illuminate during the test, the element or thermostat is faulty.
  • The heating element is accessible from underneath after removing the kick plate. Check for continuity with a multimeter.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK You may be using an 'Energy Saver' dry option. Press 'Options' and select 'Heated Dry' to ensure it's activated for the cycle.

HEADS UP Plastic items will never dry completely without a rinse aid, even with a working heater. This is normal. Focus on whether glass and ceramic are still soaked.
