water stays pooled at the bottom of the tub after a cycle ends, it never fully drains.

DIAGNOSIS A drain blockage is the prime suspect. The drain hose, air gap, or garbage disposal connection is clogged.

FIX

  • Check the sink's garbage disposal (if connected). The knockout plug in the disposal's dishwasher inlet may still be in place or there may be a clog there.
  • Disconnect the drain hose from the disposal or sink drain. Clear any obstruction and flush it with hot water.
  • Inspect the drain air gap on your sink counter (if installed). Unscrew the cap and clean it out.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The drain pump may be jammed or failed. Access it from the front after removing the kick plate. Manually check the pump impeller for spin and obstruction. A humming sound during drain indicates a jam; silence indicates a failed pump.

HEADS UP Never use drain cleaner chemicals in the dishwasher. They can destroy rubber seals and the plastic tub. Mechanical cleaning only.
