my epson wf-2860 keeps jamming or having paper feed issues, what can i clean?

Diagnosis

Persistent jams and feed problems in your Epson WF-2860 are almost always caused by worn or contaminated pickup rollers. Dust, paper fibers, and oils from your hands build up on the rubber surfaces, reducing their grip and causing misfeeds. The primary culprits are the rollers inside the rear paper cassette assembly.

How to Fix It

You need to clean the cassette pickup rollers.

1. Turn off the printer using the power button and unplug it from the wall outlet.
2. Disconnect any other cables (USB, Ethernet) to allow safe maneuvering.
3. Pull the paper cassette completely out and remove all paper. Inspect the cassette for any torn bits of paper or obstructions.
4. Carefully lay the printer on its left side (so the control panel faces up) on a soft, stable surface.
5. Locate the two gray rubber rollers inside the now-accessible cassette slot. Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water (or a very mild glass cleaner) and wring it out thoroughly. Wipe each roller firmly while manually rotating it to clean the entire circumference. Do not use alcohol or harsh solvents.
6. Once clean, immediately return the printer to its normal upright position. Never leave an inkjet printer on its side as ink can flood the printhead.
7. Let the rollers air-dry for a few minutes. Firmly reload the paper cassette with a stack of plain paper, ensuring the guides are snug. Reconnect all cables and power on.

If That Didn't Work

If jams continue, also clean the internal paper path. With the printer off and unplugged, open the rear cover and gently remove any visible paper debris. Check the small, white separator pads near the rollers; if they are glazed or dirty, clean them gently with a dry cloth. For chronic issues, the rollers may be worn smooth and require replacement (part #1526 for the WF-2860). Ensure you are using supported, non-curled paper and not overfilling the cassette beyond the marked line.
