my new chamberlain rjo101 just flashes the learn button red and the door won't move at all, what gives?

— asked by Jordan

Quick answer: The opener is in programming lockout mode. This happens after a power interruption or a new install if it hasn't been trained to its limits.

Diagnosis

The opener is in programming lockout mode. This happens after a power interruption or a new install if it hasn't been trained to its limits.

How to Fix It

You must run the travel limits and force setting training. Press and hold the black 'Learn' button on the motor unit for 10 seconds until the red light turns off. Then press the remote 'Up' button once. The door will move. Let it go all the way up and stop. Press remote 'Up' again. Door goes down. Let it touch the floor and stop. It's now trained.

If That Didn't Work

The lockout sensor on the rail might be engaged. Check the small plastic lever near the trolley. It must be flipped to the run position, not lock.

Heads Up

Do not manually disconnect the door from the trolley while the opener is powered. You will trigger this lockout again and have to retrain.
