my square air fryer oven makes a loud grinding noise when the fan starts, sounds like it's hitting something

— asked by Morgan

DIAGNOSIS A grinding noise points to fan blade obstruction. Common culprits are loose food debris or a misaligned, loose fan blade assembly.

FIX Unplug the unit. Let it cool completely. Remove the crumb tray and the rear air filter cover. Visually inspect the fan chamber for large food particles, like bread chunks or cheese melt. Use a flashlight. Remove any debris with long tweezers. Ensure the fan blades spin freely by hand.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The fan motor shaft may be damaged or the blade may have come loose from its mount. This requires contacting Sweetcrispy support. Do not operate the unit with a grinding noise.

HEADS UP Never insert utensils or your fingers into the fan area while the unit is plugged in. The fan can start automatically during preheat.
