Check the fuel and oil. The most common causes are stale fuel, low oil, or the engine switch being in the wrong position.
- Verify the engine switch is set to the CHOKE position for a cold start.
- Check the oil level in the sump. The generator ships without oil; it must be added before first use.
- Drain the fuel tank if the gasoline is old or contaminated. Use fresh, unleaded gas with a minimum 87 octane rating, purchased within the last 30 days.
If that didn't work: The air filter could be clogged or the spark plug fouled. Remove the side panel and check the air cleaner element. Clean or replace it if dirty. Remove the spark plug boot and use the supplied wrench to check the plug. It should be intact, free of deposits, and properly gapped. Clean or replace it.
Heads up: Never start the generator with appliances plugged in. Unplug everything first, as it makes the engine harder to start.
