nanit camera overheats and shuts off, i can feel it's hot to the touch on the back.

— asked by Casey

DIAGNOSIS The camera is in a confined space or its vents are obstructed, causing thermal shutdown. The back metal plate is the heatsink.

FIX Ensure a minimum 6-inch clearance on all sides of the camera, especially the back. Do not place it inside a crib canopy, between crib slats, or directly against a wall. The room ambient temperature must be below 95°F (35°C).

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The power supply may be faulty and over-volting the unit. Try using a different USB-C power adapter that supports 5V/2A output. The original Nanit power block is required for consistent operation.

HEADS UP Continuous overheating will permanently degrade the camera's battery, sensor, and internal components, leading to premature failure. This is not a normal condition.
