The filter alert is usually triggered by the full bin sensors, not the filter itself. The sensors are dirty or the filter is installed incorrectly.
- Remove the bin. Open the bin door.
- Wipe the inner full bin sensors on the robot and the corresponding sensor on the inside of the bin door with a clean, dry cloth. Debris buildup causes false readings.
- Remove the filter. Tap it against a trash container to dislodge fine dust. Do not wash it.
- Reinsert the filter with the ridged grips facing out. An incorrectly installed filter will prevent the robot from running.
- Ensure the bin is completely dry if you rinsed it. Place it back in the robot until it clicks.
If that didn't work: The filter may be at end of life and needs replacement. The filter should be replaced every two months (more often with pets). A heavily clogged filter will restrict airflow and trigger the sensor.
Heads up: The bin is not dishwasher safe. Only rinse with warm water, and always let it dry fully before reassembly to prevent mold and sensor errors.
