DIAGNOSIS The latch mechanism that secures the brewing chamber is worn or broken. This prevents the machine from creating a proper seal to pressurize the K-Cup, often leading to leaks or weak coffee.
FIX This is usually a physical obstruction or alignment issue.
1. Unplug the machine. Open and close the handle slowly, watching the black K-Cup holder inside. It should move smoothly to the side as the handle closes.
2. Inspect for coffee grounds or debris jammed in the track of the K-Cup holder. Clean it thoroughly with a damp cloth.
3. Check the small metal pin on the handle arm that engages the latch. Make sure it's not bent.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The plastic internal latch is likely cracked. There is no user-serviceable part for this. You can try securing the handle with a strong rubber band during brew cycles as a temporary fix, but the unit will likely need replacement.
HEADS UP A poorly sealing handle means water and steam can escape during brewing, potentially causing minor burns or a mess. Be cautious when brewing.
