DIAGNOSIS Residual taste from manufacturing oils in the new refrigeration system or from the internal food-grade tubing. This should dissipate but can persist if not properly purged.
FIX Perform a extended purification cycle. 1. Mix 1 gallon of lukewarm water with 1 cup of distilled white vinegar. 2. Run the Clean cycle twice consecutively using this mixture. 3. Run 3-4 full cycles with fresh water only, discarding all ice produced. Use filtered water for all future cycles.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The activated carbon filter in the water system (if your model has one) may be saturated or absent. Check for filter specifications and replace it if applicable.
HEADS UP The taste of ice directly reflects the source water. Highly chlorinated tap water or water with high mineral content (hard water) will produce ice with an off-taste. Always use filtered water.
