trying to steam veggies in my ninja foodi and it's showing 'WATR' on the screen, then stops. what's that mean?

For the Steam function specifically, this means the internal sensor has detected insufficient water in the bottom of the cooking pot to generate steam safely. The unit automatically stops to prevent damage from running dry.

How to Fix It

1. Cancel the current cycle by pressing the Keep Warm/Cancel button.
2. Carefully open the lid (ensure any pressure is released first).
3. Check the water level in the main cooking pot. For steaming vegetables, you typically need at least 1 cup (240ml) of water.
4. Add the required amount of water to the pot. Do not exceed the "Max Fill" line.
5. Close and lock the lid securely, then restart your Steam cycle.

If That Didn't Work

If the error reappears after adding water, the issue may be a different function or a sensor fault. First, verify you are using the correct cooking function. If you were attempting to Pressure Cook, 'WATR' means it failed to pressurize. Ensure you've added at least 1/2 cup (120ml) of thin liquid (like water or broth), the sealing ring is properly seated, and the steam release valve is set to "Seal." For any function, also check that the float valve (the small silicone pin near the lid hinge) is clean and moves freely. A stuck valve can trigger this error.
