DIAGNOSIS A leak from the front-bottom area, near the door, typically comes from the drain pump or its connecting hoses. The pump housing or its seal can crack, or a hose clamp may be loose.
FIX Unplug the washer. Tilt the machine back carefully and place a towel under the front. Locate the drain pump at the bottom front, behind a lower access panel. Check the two clear drain hoses (inlet and outlet) attached to the pump for cracks and secure clamps. Inspect the black plastic pump housing for hairline cracks, especially around the impeller cover. A cracked housing requires pump replacement (part WH49X10020).
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The leak may be originating higher up, from the door boot (tub gasket). Run an empty cycle and watch closely with a flashlight. If water drips from the bellows (rubber seal) area during fill or agitation, the boot is the culprit.
HEADS UP Before reassembling, clear any debris from the pump impeller. A clog can cause water to back up and leak from loose connections. Always ensure the washer is level; an unlevel machine can cause water to slosh out from internal components.
