Diagnosis
The included crisper plate is a functional accessory designed to optimize cooking performance in your Ninja Foodi DualZone. Its primary role is to improve air circulation and prevent steaming, which directly impacts texture and doneness.
How to Fix It
Use the crisper plate for most air frying, roasting, and reheating tasks where a crispy, evenly cooked result is desired. To use it correctly:
- Place the crisper plate into the air fry basket before adding food.
- Arrange food in a single layer on top of the plate, ensuring items aren't piled up or overlapping excessively.
- Insert the basket into the Foodi and cook as usual. The plate elevates the food, allowing the cyclonic hot air to flow underneath and on all sides, promoting uniform browning and crisping while preventing a soggy bottom from trapped moisture.
If That Didn't Work
If food isn't crisping adequately even with the plate, ensure you are not overcrowding the basket, as this blocks airflow. Pat wet items like fresh vegetables or thawed protein very dry before cooking. You can also try lightly coating food with oil and increasing cooking time or temperature slightly in 25°F/5-minute increments. For very small or loose items (like tater tots or shredded cheese), you might omit the plate to prevent them from falling through, but monitor closely.
Heads Up
Always use oven mitts when handling the crisper plate, as it becomes extremely hot. Ensure the plate is fully seated in the basket and that no food debris is blocking the basket's perforations, as this can impede airflow. The plate is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
