why is white smoke pouring out of my air fryer? is it broken?

— asked by Alex

Yeah, this one's common. White smoke or steam during first use or while cooking is normal.

It's usually caused by cooking greasy foods—oil collects under the crisper plate and produces smoke. It shouldn't affect cooking, but the basket will be hotter than usual, so handle it with care. If you see dark smoke, that's different: unplug immediately, that means food is burning or there's a circuit problem.
