Diagnosis
You cannot connect your iSpring T32M RO system to a hot water line. The entire system, including its pressurized storage tank, is engineered exclusively for cold water input. Using hot water is a guaranteed way to cause rapid, irreversible damage.
How to Fix It
Ensure your system is correctly installed and operated:
- Verify Connection: Confirm the feed water adapter is connected to a standard cold water line under your sink.
- Check Temperature: The incoming water must stay within the safe operating range of 40–100 °F (4–37 °C).
- Optimize Legally: For faster production, use ambient-temperature cold water (e.g., from a non-chilled line in a warm climate). This warmer water within the safe range increases membrane permeability without causing harm.
- Monitor Pressure: Ensure your home's cold water pressure is between 40-85 psi for optimal system performance.
If That Didn't Work
If production speed is still too slow, the issue isn't water temperature. Troubleshoot these common causes:
- Check Pre-filters: Clogged sediment or carbon block filters are the most common cause of reduced flow. Replace them if they are older than 6-12 months.
- Inspect Water Pressure: Use a pressure gauge to verify feed pressure is adequate. Low pressure severely slows production.
- Evaluate Membrane Age: An RO membrane typically lasts 2-3 years. A failing membrane will produce water very slowly.
- Check for Tank Issues: Ensure the air pressure in the T32M storage tank is pre-charged to about 7-8 psi when empty. Low air pressure can prevent the tank from filling properly.
Heads Up
Hot water will destroy the thin-film composite RO membrane by delaminating it and can warp or crack the system's plastic housings, fittings, and the storage tank bladder. This damage is not covered under warranty. For consistent performance and safety, always use cold water supply.
