Diagnosis
The leak at the threads of your iSpring T32M tank valve is almost certainly due to an improper Teflon tape seal. This typically happens because the tape was applied in the wrong direction, used in insufficient quantity, or because old tape or debris was left on the threads, preventing a tight seal.
How to Fix It
To create a proper seal, you must redo the installation from the start.
- Shut off the water supply to the system and depressurize the tank by opening a downstream faucet.
- Unscrew the leaking tank valve completely from the tank's 1/4" NPT port.
- Thoroughly clean all old Teflon tape and debris from both the tank's metal threads and the valve's plastic threads using a dry cloth.
- Apply a new, high-density Teflon tape. Starting two threads back from the end, wrap the tape clockwise (when looking at the end of the threads) 8 to 10 full wraps. The tape should lay smooth and flat, covering the threads completely.
- Hand-start the valve into the tank port, then screw it in clockwise until snug. Finish tightening with a wrench, using only moderate force—about 1/4 to 1/2 turn past hand-tight. Overtightening plastic fittings can crack them or distort the threads, causing a new leak.
If That Didn't Work
If a correctly applied Teflon seal still leaks, inspect the threads on both the valve and the tank port for cracks, chips, or deep scratches. A defective or damaged valve is the likely culprit. In this case, you should contact iSpring Customer Support directly for a warranty evaluation and replacement.
Heads Up
Never use pipe dope or thread sealant compound on plastic fittings, as the chemicals can degrade the material. Use only PTFE (Teflon) tape. Also, ensure the valve's rubber O-ring or gasket inside the tank port is seated correctly and is not the actual source of the leak.
