You can, but with a major caveat. Lining the basket with foil is mentioned as a way to make cleanup easier, but it says "except the crisper plate." So the foil shouldn't cover the crisper plate, as it will block the 360° air flow.
Heads up: Never put baking or parchment paper into the air fryer without food on top of it. Air circulation can lift the paper and cause it to touch the heating coils, which is a fire hazard. The same goes for really thin, light foods like cornflakes—they can get sucked up. Always use heat-safe containers if you're using any, and be extremely cautious with anything that isn't metal or glass.
