DIAGNOSIS Grease and food particles get sucked up into the heating chamber during cooking. It needs regular cleaning to prevent smoke, odors, and potential fire hazard.
FIX Clean it after every few uses, when the unit is completely cool and unplugged.
- Remove the drawer and basket.
- Dip a soft sponge or non-abrasive cloth in warm, soapy water, wring it out until it's just damp.
- Wipe the interior walls, the heating element (the silver coil), and the fan housing gently. Do not scrub the element.
- Use a soft-bristle brush (like a clean toothbrush) to gently dislodge any debris stuck in the fan guard above the element.
- Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For baked-on grease, use a paste of baking soda and a few drops of water. Apply it to the soiled areas (avoiding the electrical connections), let it sit for 15 minutes, then wipe away with the damp cloth. Do not use oven cleaner.
HEADS UP Never, ever immerse the main base unit in water or run it under the tap. You can only clean the removable drawer and basket that way. Water inside the electronics will destroy the air fryer.
