DIAGNOSIS Odor is trapped in the silicone gasket and under the blade assembly seal, where tiny food particles ferment.
FIX Deep clean the entire sealing system.
- Disassemble the jar: unscrew the blade assembly, remove the gasket.
- Soak the gasket, blade assembly, and jar in a solution of warm water and baking soda (or a 50/50 water and white vinegar mix) for 30 minutes.
- Use a small brush (like a toothbrush) to scrub the groove in the jar and the ridges of the blade assembly.
- Rinse thoroughly and air-dry completely before reassembling.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For persistent smells, make a paste of baking soda and water, spread it on the interior of the jar and on the gasket, let it sit for an hour, then rinse. The baking soda absorbs odors.
HEADS UP Never store the blender jar assembled with the lid on if it's even slightly damp. Always disassemble, dry all parts, and store loosely to allow airflow.
