Diagnosis
The washable pads on your Braava Jet M6 accumulate dirt, grime, and cleaning solution residue during use. Improper cleaning or drying can degrade the microfiber material, reducing its mopping effectiveness and potentially damaging the pad's attachment points.
How to Fix It
To properly clean the pads, follow these steps:
- Pre-Treat: Rinse excess debris from the pad under running water immediately after a mopping session.
- Wash: You can either hand wash with warm water and mild detergent or machine wash on a warm, gentle cycle. Always wash the pads separately from clothing or other laundry to avoid lint transfer and snags.
- Dry: Air dry the pads completely. Lay them flat or hang them. They must be 100% dry before reattaching them to the robot to prevent mold and ensure proper robot operation.
- Replace: For optimal cleaning, use a fresh, clean pad for each mopping job. Do not pre-wet the pads; the robot dispenses the correct amount of fluid.
If That Didn't Work
If stains or odors persist after washing, you can soak the pads in a solution of warm water and a small amount of white vinegar or an enzyme-based cleaner before repeating the wash cycle. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners, as they can coat the fibers. For persistent damage or wear, the pads are consumables and should be replaced.
Heads Up
Never put the pads in a clothes dryer. The high heat will melt the plastic backing, warp the Velcro-like attachment strips, and shrink or degrade the microfiber, rendering the pads unusable and potentially damaging your dryer if adhesive melts.
