DIAGNOSIS A faint coil whine or buzzing from the power supply/inverter area is common with budget monitors, especially when displaying very bright scenes (like a white webpage) or when the refresh rate is set high (e.g., 100Hz).
FIX Reduce the electrical load on the internal components.
- Lower the monitor's brightness setting from the OSD. This is the most effective step.
- Try setting the refresh rate to 60Hz instead of 100Hz via your graphics control panel to see if the noise diminishes.
- Ensure the monitor's power cable is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip with many other devices, to ensure stable voltage.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The noise could be exacerbated by a specific color/brightness pattern. Open a full-screen dark gray image (RGB 128,128,128). If the noise changes or stops, it confirms it's load-related coil whine, not a defect requiring immediate replacement.
HEADS UP This noise is generally not a sign of impending failure, just a characteristic of the components used. If the buzz is loud enough to hear over room noise from a normal sitting distance, contact Sceptre support as it may indicate a faulty power board.
