Diagnosis
Weak or unstable Wi-Fi signal to your garage. The Meross unit has a modest antenna and is often far from your router, leading to periodic dropouts.
How to Fix It
Improve the signal strength. The fastest fix is to use a Wi-Fi extender.
- Get a plug-in Wi-Fi extender and place it halfway between your router and the garage.
- Connect the Meross opener to the extender's network (usually named YourNetwork_EXT) during the re-setup in the Meross app.
- This creates a stronger, dedicated link that's more stable than a distant main router.
If That Didn't Work
Your router's band steering might be causing issues. Log into your router settings and temporarily disable "Smart Connect" or band steering. Then, in the Meross app, make sure the device is connected to your 2.4 GHz network only (it doesn't work on 5 GHz).
Heads Up
Don't just keep power-cycling the unit. If the signal is truly terrible, constant reconnection attempts can temporarily corrupt its settings. A one-time factory reset (hold button for 10+ seconds) and re-setup on a stronger network is cleaner.
