my meross garage opener says "open limit" in the app and won't close all the way now

— asked by Riley

Quick answer: Your opener's travel limits got reset, probably during a power flicker or a manual pull of the emergency release. The sensor thinks the door is already "open," so it stops short.

Diagnosis

Your opener's travel limits got reset, probably during a power flicker or a manual pull of the emergency release. The sensor thinks the door is already "open," so it stops short.

How to Fix It

You need to reset the open and close limits on the Meross unit itself.

  1. On the Meross device, press and hold the button until the light flashes rapidly.
  2. Press your wall button to open the door fully, then press the Meross button once to set the open limit.
  3. Press the wall button to close the door fully, then press the Meross button once to set the close limit. The light will go solid.

If That Didn't Work

The problem might be the door sensor alignment. Check that the small magnet on the door and the sensor on the track are within a half-inch of each other when the door is closed. If they're misaligned, the unit thinks the door is always open.

Heads Up

After resetting limits, always test the door's auto-reverse safety feature by placing a 2x4 on the floor under the door. If it doesn't reverse immediately on contact, stop using it and check your opener's manual for force adjustment.
