Diagnosis
The loud clattering or banging noise during ice harvest is not normal; it usually means the ice cubes are sticking to the tray because the machine needs a deep clean.
How to Fix It
You need to descale the entire ice-making system. Run a full cleaning cycle with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water (not the reservoir cleaning tablets). Fill the reservoir with the mix, start a cleaning cycle, and let it run for at least 15 minutes. Then run two cycles with clean water to flush.
If That Didn't Work
The actuator arm that twists to eject ice might be hitting the ice basket. Make sure the removable basket is pushed all the way in and seated flat—it should click into place. Don't overfill it; keep it below the max line.
Heads Up
Ignoring this noise can wear out the plastic ejector arm or motor. Perform this vinegar cleaning every 2-4 weeks if you have hard water to prevent sticking and noise.
