Diagnosis
Your phone is switching between cellular data and Wi-Fi, or your home internet upload speed is too slow to send the video feed to Google's servers and back to you.
How to Fix It
Force your phone onto a strong, stable network and check your home internet speed.
- If you're away from home, turn OFF Wi-Fi on your phone to force it to use cellular data only. The app struggles with network switching.
- If you're at home, run a speed test (like fast.com) on your home Wi-Fi. You need at least 2 Mbps UPLOAD speed for a reliable stream. If it's lower, that's your problem—call your ISP.
- Restart your home router and modem.
If That Didn't Work
The issue might be on Google's server side. Check downdetector.com for 'Google Nest' outages. If there's a spike in reports, wait an hour and try again.
Heads Up
Viewing the live stream remotely always uses your home's upload speed. Even if your download speed is great, a poor upload speed will cause this endless spin. This is the most common culprit.
