Quick answer: This is condensation or moisture inside the camera lens housing, usually from a temperature change (like a cold night followed by a warm morning) or a poor seal.

Diagnosis

This is condensation or moisture inside the camera lens housing, usually from a temperature change (like a cold night followed by a warm morning) or a poor seal.

How to Fix It

Dry out the unit. You need to remove internal moisture.

  • Take the doorbell off its mount and bring it inside.
  • Remove the battery and leave both the doorbell and the battery in a dry, warm room (like near a dehumidifier or in a bowl of uncooked rice) for 24 hours.
  • Reassemble and remount. The haze should be gone if it was simple condensation.

If That Didn't Work

The lens seal may be permanently compromised. Check the thin clear ring around the camera lens for any cracks or gaps. If you see damage, moisture will keep getting in.

Heads Up

If the haze returns after drying, the unit is not weatherproof anymore. Contact Google support, as this is a defect. Mounting it under a slight eave to protect from direct rain can help prevent a recurrence.
