Diagnosis
Your video quality and activity zones are draining the battery. High-res video and constant detection (like a busy street) force the camera to wake up and record constantly.
How to Fix It
Adjust your video and detection settings to conserve power.
- In the Google Home app, go to the device settings > Video and audio. Set Video quality to 'Low' or 'Medium'. This is the biggest power saver.
- Go to Notifications > Activity zones. Draw zones ONLY around areas where people actually approach your door, like the walkway. Avoid zones that include moving trees, cars, or sidewalks.
- Reduce the length of 'Event recording' in settings.
If That Didn't Work
Check for physical interference. Is the doorbell in direct, hot sunlight all day? Extreme heat forces the battery to work harder. Try to add a small shade if possible.
Heads Up
If you get more than 30 events a day, weekly charging is normal. For heavy traffic, consider the wired version or buying a second battery to swap.
