Diagnosis
This is almost always a weak Wi-Fi signal. The doorbell is on the edge of your router's range and drops connection when it tries to upload video.
How to Fix It
Improve your Wi-Fi signal strength at the door.
- Check the signal strength in the Google Home app under the device's settings. You need 'Good' or better.
- If it's 'Low' or 'Fair', your router is too far. Move your router closer or get a Wi-Fi extender/mesh point.
- If you can't move the router, temporarily move the doorbell closer to test. If it stays online, you've confirmed the issue.
If That Didn't Work
Your doorbell might be connecting to a 5GHz network band. It's more stable on 2.4GHz. Go into your router settings and make sure the 2.4GHz network is enabled and has a distinct name. Connect the doorbell to that network only.
Heads Up
The doorbell needs a strong, consistent signal more than a fast one. A cheap extender on the 2.4GHz band will often fix this better than a fancy router across the house.
