Diagnosis
Your Electactic Mini Fridge's loud humming noise is most likely the compressor motor starting its cooling cycle, which is a normal operational sound. You may also hear gurgling or trickling from the refrigerant flowing. These sounds are typical, especially when the unit is first plugged in, has been opened frequently, or the internal temperature has risen.
How to Fix It
First, ensure the fridge is properly installed on a stable, completely level surface. Unlevel placement can cause vibrations and amplify noise. Follow these steps:
- Unplug the unit for safety.
- Use a spirit level to check the surface front-to-back and side-to-side.
- Adjust the leveling feet at the bottom of the fridge until it is perfectly stable.
- Plug it back in and allow it to run for 2-3 hours. The initial loud hum should subside to a much quieter background noise once the target temperature is reached.
If That Didn't Work
If the loud humming persists constantly and does not cycle off, or is accompanied by a rattling or grinding sound, investigate further. Ensure there is at least 5 inches of clearance on all sides, especially the back, for airflow. Check inside to make sure cans or bottles are not vibrating against each other or the shelves. A constant, unusually loud hum can also indicate the compressor is overworking due to a dirty condenser coil (located at the back); carefully vacuum any dust buildup from the coil's fins.

Avoid placing the fridge in direct sunlight or near heat sources like an oven, as this forces the compressor to run longer and louder. Allow at least 24 hours of continuous operation for the unit to stabilize after initial setup or moving it.
