Diagnosis
A metal-on-metal screech from the integrated grinder indicates foreign material (like a rock or hardened coffee chunk) is jammed between the burrs, or the burrs are misaligned and touching.
How to Fix It
Immediately stop the grinder. Perform a thorough cleaning: remove the hopper, top burr, and use the provided brush and a vacuum to remove all grounds and debris. Inspect the burrs for visible damage or lodged objects.
If That Didn't Work
The burr carrier may be misaligned. You'll need to remove the top burr, loosen the three carrier screws, re-center it, and retighten. If noise persists, the burr set likely needs replacement.
Heads Up
Never use rice or grinding tablets in this integrated grinder—it can damage the burrs and motor. Use only Breville-approved cleaning pellets or proper grinder cleaning tools.
