Diagnosis
The water inlet valve for the ice maker has failed or the ice maker itself has a faulty fill valve or thermostat. First, verify water supply to the fridge is on and the freezer temperature is at or below 0°F.
How to Fix It
1. Manually test the water dispenser on the door. If it works, water supply to the fridge is good.
2. Check the ice maker shut-off arm. Ensure it is in the down position.
3. Locate the ice maker fill cup. Initiate a manual test cycle by holding the test button (if equipped) for 3 seconds.
4. Observe: The fill valve should open and water should flow into the mold for approximately 7-10 seconds.
5. If no water enters, the ice maker inlet valve or the ice maker assembly is faulty.
If That Didn't Work
If water flows into the mold but does not freeze, the freezer temperature is too warm. Use a thermometer to verify it is 0°F or colder. If water flows but the ice maker never cycles to eject, the motor module or gear case has failed.
Heads Up
After replacing a faulty ice maker, the first batch of ice may take up to 24 hours to produce and should be discarded.
