Diagnosis
The ceramic plates have lost their smooth surface due to buildup, micro-scratches, or the coating has worn off in spots, creating friction points.
How to Fix It
Address surface condition and technique.
1. Thoroughly clean the plates with rubbing alcohol as described in the cleaning fix above. Built-up residue is the #1 cause of sticking.
2. Ensure your hair sections are completely dry before straightening. Damp hair will sizzle and stick.
3. Use a thinner hair section. The Pro Pearl plates aren't overly large; thick sections won't be clamped evenly.
4. Apply a light heat protectant spray to the hair *before* straightening, not directly on the plates.
If That Didn't Work
Inspect the plates under bright light. If you see scratches, scuffs, or patches where the shiny ceramic is gone (revealing a duller surface underneath), the plates are physically damaged and need replacement.
Heads Up
Never use the iron on dirty or product-heavy hair without cleaning it first. Hairspray, dry shampoo, and oils will bake onto the ceramic instantly, ruining glide.
