how do i set up a dmz on my netgear orbi for gaming? my nat type is strict.

Set a default DMZ server to forward all unsolicited incoming traffic to one computer.

Procedure:

  • Connect to the Orbi network. Launch a browser to orbilogin.com and log in.
  • Navigate to ADVANCED > Setup > WAN Setup.
  • Select the Default DMZ Server checkbox.
  • In the IP Address field, type the static local IP address of the computer or console you are using for gaming (e.g., 192.168.1.25).
  • Click the Apply button.

If that didn't work, ensure the gaming device has a reserved IP address. Go to ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup, click the Add button under "Address Reservation," and reserve an IP for that device's MAC address.

Heads up: A DMZ server loses most firewall protections. Only use this for a trusted device, and disable it when not gaming.
