Diagnosis
The solid red light is a critical fault indicator, usually triggered by a thermal cutoff event or a sensor failure inside the machine. It's a safety lockout.
How to Fix It
Perform a hard reset first. This clears the fault memory.
- Unplug the machine from the wall outlet.
- Leave it unplugged for a full 10 minutes. This is crucial for the internal capacitors to fully discharge.
- While unplugged, press and hold the power button on the machine itself (not the remote) for 10 seconds to drain any residual charge.
- Plug it directly back into the wall outlet (not a power strip).
- Wait 30 seconds, then press the power button. The red light should be gone.
If That Didn't Work
If the red light returns immediately, the internal thermal fuse may have blown. This requires professional Dyson service. The machine has detected an overheat condition it can't reset from.
Heads Up
Never run the heater on maximum (37°C/99°F) for extended periods in a small, enclosed space. It can trigger this cutoff. Use the auto mode or a lower target temperature for sustained use.
