Diagnosis
This is a known display ribbon cable issue. The cable connecting the LCD to the mainboard can become loose or fail, often due to thermal expansion/contraction from heating cycles.
How to Fix It
Try a full power cycle to reset the display driver.
- Unplug the machine from the wall.
- Press and hold the physical power button on the machine (not the remote) for 30 seconds while it's unplugged. This drains all residual power.
- Plug it back in. Wait 60 seconds without touching any buttons.
- The display should initialize and show the startup sequence. If it's back, you're good.
If That Didn't Work
If the screen remains dead or garbled but the fan/heater functions, the ribbon cable or LCD is faulty. This is not a user-serviceable part. You must contact Dyson for a display module replacement.
Heads Up
You can still operate the machine with a dead display using only the remote control. The remote sends commands directly via IR. Use the remote to turn it on/off, adjust heat, speed, and oscillation.
