Diagnosis
The 3D Motion Detection zones and sensitivity are either poorly configured or are being thrown off by repetitive motion like a swinging tree branch.
How to Fix It
Reconfigure your motion zones and sensitivity in the app.
- In the Ring app, go to Motion Settings > Motion Zones.
- Draw a zone that starts about 10 feet from your door, not at the street. The Pro 2 is best at detecting motion moving across the zones, not directly toward the camera.
- Set Motion Sensitivity to 'Regular' or 'Light'. 'Frequent' can cause alert fatigue and delays as the system processes too much.
- Under Smart Alerts, enable 'People Only Mode' to filter out cars and animals.
If That Didn't Work
Slow or delayed alerts are usually a network issue. The video has to upload to the cloud before you get the alert. Check your Wi-Fi RSSI in Device Health. If it's below -55, improve your signal with a Wi-Fi extender or Ring Chime Pro.
Heads Up
The 'Bird's Eye View' feature uses radar to show a path, but it does NOT control detection. Tuning the motion zones in the top-down view is what actually improves detection accuracy.
