Diagnosis
This is almost certainly the infrared (IR) cut filter getting stuck. The camera uses a mechanical filter to switch between day (color) and night (black & white) vision. When it sticks, the image looks milky.
How to Fix It
Force a reboot to try and reset the filter mechanism.
- In the Ring app, go to Device Settings > Device Health > Reboot Device. Wait 2 minutes.
- If still hazy, perform a hard reset. Press and hold the setup button on the front of the doorbell for 20 seconds until the light spins and goes out.
- After it reboots, check the video. The filter often un-sticks during the power cycle.
If That Didn't Work
The filter mechanism itself might be physically defective. If the haze is permanent and a reboot didn't fix it, you'll need to contact Ring Support for a warranty replacement. This is a known hardware issue with some units.
Heads Up
Do not try to clean the outer lens to fix this haze. The filter is inside the sealed camera housing. Cleaning the outside dome will do nothing and you risk scratching the weather shield.
