Diagnosis
Mold and mildew in the door boot seal folds and detergent drawer. Clean cycles often miss these areas. Using liquid detergent and cold washes accelerates this.
How to Fix It
Wipe the entire inner surface of the door boot seal with a 1:1 mix of white vinegar and water. Use a soft cloth. Scrub the detergent dispenser drawer with hot soapy water. Leave the door and detergent drawer open after every wash to dry out.
If That Didn't Work
Mold may be growing behind the outer drum or in the drain system. Run a hot water cycle with two cups of bleach (no clothes). Then run a second hot water cycle with two cups of vinegar to neutralize. This is a deep clean.
Heads Up
Never leave wet laundry sitting in the drum. It creates the perfect mold environment. Always leave the door ajar when not in use. Powder detergent is better than liquid for reducing residue.
