DIAGNOSIS Food residue, especially melted cheese, oils, or starchy deposits, has baked onto the basket rim and the drawer's inner lip, acting like glue.
FIX
- Fill the sink with hot, soapy water.
- Submerge the entire drawer assembly (with the stuck basket inside) for 20-30 minutes to loosen the grime.
- After soaking, try twisting the basket counter-clockwise while gently pulling up. It should release.
- If still stuck, use a soft-bristle brush (like an old toothbrush) to scrub around the seam where the basket meets the drawer while it's still submerged.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For persistent, baked-on gunk, run the drawer (with basket) through a dishwasher cycle. The prolonged heat and detergent will break down the residue. Let it cool completely before trying to twist.
HEADS UP Prevent this by cleaning the basket and drawer after every use, especially after greasy or sugary foods. A quick soak prevents a major struggle later.
