DIAGNOSIS Spilled liquids or fine food dust (like flour or protein powder) have seeped under the membrane of the control panel, gumming up the contacts.
FIX
- Unplug the unit.
- Dampen a cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) or a mild electronics cleaner. Do not spray liquid directly onto the base.
- Wring the cloth out so it's barely damp.
- Wipe the entire control panel thoroughly, applying firm pressure around each button to work the cleaning solution into the edges.
- Use a dry cloth or cotton swab to absorb any moisture from the seams. Let it air dry completely for 30 minutes before plugging back in.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The problem may be internal moisture damage from a significant spill. If cleaning the exterior doesn't restore responsiveness, the control panel membrane itself may be failing and would require professional service or base replacement.
HEADS UP Always wipe down the motor base control panel immediately after any spill or when you notice dust accumulation. Preventative cleaning is key, as the panel is not designed to be waterproof.
