Diagnosis
Throttle lag is almost always a weak or dying battery causing voltage sag, or a loose throttle connector.
How to Fix It
Check battery charge and throttle connections first.
- Ensure the battery is above 50% charge. Test the throttle response at full charge versus low charge. Lag is normal when the battery is low.
- If fully charged, open the handlebar stem cover (two screws). Find the throttle's connector (a small white plug with a few wires). Unplug it, inspect for corrosion, and firmly reseat it.
- Power on and test.
If That Didn't Work
The hall-effect sensor inside the throttle grip may be failing. This requires a throttle replacement. Before that, perform a controller reset: power on, press and hold the power button and brake lever for 10 seconds until the display resets.
Heads Up
"Zero-start" is a feature, not a bug. The scooter often requires a tiny push (kick-start) before the throttle engages, especially in Sport mode. This is to prevent accidental launch.
