Diagnosis
Error code 5E indicates a drain issue. The washer cannot expel water fast enough, triggering a safety stop.
How to Fix It
First, check the drain hose. Ensure it is not kinked and is inserted less than 96 inches (8 feet) into the standpipe. The hose end should be between 39 and 96 inches from the floor. Remove any clogs from the hose lint filter, located at the front bottom-right behind the service panel.
If That Didn't Work
The issue may be a clogged pump filter. Turn off the washer. Open the small service door on the front lower-left. Place towels. Unscrew the emergency drain cap slowly to release water. Then remove the filter assembly and clear any debris (coins, hair).
Heads Up
Never use drain hose extension kits. They frequently cause 5E errors on high-efficiency pumps. The factory hose length is optimal.
